Our Mission & Focus
The Orthopaedic technology Unit is dedicated to providing specialized, patient-centered services for individuals with limb loss, musculoskeletal deformities, and mobility impairments. Through a multidisciplinary approach and the use of advanced technology, we design, fabricate, and fit orthopaedic appliances that support functional independence and rehabilitation.
We focus on improving mobility, correcting physical deformities, preventing complications, and enhancing overall quality of life—supporting patients from initial assessment through long-term follow-up and community reintegration.
Core Treatment Programmes
Prosthetic Services (Artificial Limbs)
Provision of customized prosthetic limbs for patients with limb loss. This includes assessment, design, fitting, alignment, and training to help patients regain mobility and independence.
Orthotic Services (Braces & Supports)
Design and fabrication of orthotic devices such as spinal braces, knee supports, ankle-foot orthoses (AFOs), and other assistive supports to improve alignment, stability, and function.
Assistive Mobility Devices & Training
Assessment and prescription of mobility aids including wheelchairs, crutches, and walking frames, along with user training to ensure safe and effective use.
Device Adjustment, Repair & Maintenance
Ongoing support services including modification, repair, and maintenance of prosthetic and orthotic devices to ensure durability, comfort, and continued functionality.
Post-Fitting Rehabilitation & Gait Training Support
Collaboration with rehabilitation teams to support patients in adapting to their devices, improving mobility, and achieving functional independence.
