Occupational Therapy Unit

Empowering patients to reclaim independence in daily activities and community participation.

Our Mission & Focus

The Occupational Therapy Unit provides rehabilitative services aimed at helping patients regain, develop, or maintain the skills needed for daily living and productive activities. The unit supports individuals affected by injury, illness, disability, or developmental conditions through personalized therapy programs focused on improving independence, mobility, self-care, and overall quality of life. Services include assessment and treatment of physical, cognitive, and psychosocial challenges, training in activities of daily living (ADLs), upper limb rehabilitation, assistive device prescription, and patient and caregiver education to promote safe and functional participation at home, work, and in the community.

We focus on restoring independence, improving functional ability, and enhancing quality of life through personalized occupational therapy interventions.

Core Treatment Programmes

Activities of Daily Living (ADL) Rehabilitation
Focused on helping patients regain independence in essential daily tasks such as dressing, feeding, grooming, bathing, and toileting following spinal injury, neurological conditions, or orthopedic trauma. This program benefits patients who require functional retraining to safely manage personal care and routine activities.
Upper Limb Rehabilitation & Hand Therapy
Provides targeted therapy to improve strength, coordination, fine motor skills, and hand function. Ideal for patients recovering from spinal cord injuries, strokes, fractures, or nerve damage affecting arm and hand movement.
Assistive Technology & Adaptive Equipment Training
Assesses patient needs and provides assistive devices such as splints, wheelchairs, adaptive utensils, and home aids. Patients and caregivers are trained on safe and effective use to promote independence.
Home & Workplace Modification Programs
Guides patients and families on environmental adaptations to improve safety and accessibility at home or work, supporting long-term functional independence and community reintegration.
Psychosocial & Vocational Rehabilitation
Helps patients adjust emotionally and socially after injury or illness, while supporting return-to-work planning and productive engagement in meaningful activities.
